just felt that i would like to say i sent for the sheet info on olive oil and diet and it has confirmed for me that olive oil is healthier to use in foods,i was taking flaxseed and primrose oil and using extra light/mild olive oil in my diet when possible(done this for years),i dont eat any sort of fish and not alot of red meats if at all,i feel so much better for it and pleased to say now only have the olive oil in my diet,i have now stopped all others,i have said on the site before that i changed my ways of foods so i would like to say yes it helped me,i have a friend who is new to ra and is trying the oil instead of millions of pills she doesnt eat fish either,it will be interesting to see if it works with her,i tried codliver oil capsules but i sadly sent them back down the loo as soon as it hit my stomach, not for me,dorothy

Hi Dorothy I too use olive oil in cooking. Rape seed oil is apparently just as healthy for colesterol levels but perhaps not as good for the joints.

I take omaga 3 capsules from bio care. I had advice from a food nutritionist friend who suggested I take them together with selenium complex. Her siste also has ra so she had done some research on her behalf. I do not eat much red meat, but try to eat some fish each week.

I also sprinkle some ground flax seed on my cereals in the morning. I think that the combination of these does help, I do not have problems with my colesterol levels at all. Though I would certainly be unable to cope with out all of my ra drugs, as I've only just managed to get it under control, so I supose its debatable whether its actually helping at all! However I do feel pretty good at the mo. so will keep taking them in the hope that this good feel factor will continue!!

That's interesting

We used a lot of olive oil with our cooking but have swapped a lot of it for this flora stuff that looks creamy and then goes clear when you cook with it

The research into foods helping is mainly osteoarthritis based
Fish oils are apparently very helpful
As are ginger and turmeric for reducing inflammation

Basically if you find it helps- eat it, if it makes you worse- dont eat it!

Really if there was a fix ra diet- we'd all be on it and saving the Nhs millions of £ in the process

I think keeping a healthy diet as much as possible is important though
